Jake Gyllenhaal may hear a song about himself on Taylor Swift’s next album. The actor and the singer have broken up after a brief romance, People reported Tuesday.
“They’re over,” a source close to the couple told People. “It ended last month.”
Representatives for the two stars did not comment, and no reason was given for the breakup.
Gyllenhaal, 29, and Swift, 21, spent Thanksgiving weekend together, but Swift spent New Year’s Eve in Nashville while Gyllenhaal was in New York seeing the musical “Fela!” and having dinner with his mother.
They were last seen together in public on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles.
Swift previously dated musician John Mayer, actor Taylor Lautner and Disney star Joe Jonas. All three — along with rapper Kanye West, who infamously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards — were the subjects of songs on her third album “Speak Now,” released in October 2010.
