Girls basketball roundup: Medgar Evers ends Lincoln’s hot streak

Medgar Evers coach Barney Davis said he was viewing Sunday’s game against National Christian Academy (Md.) like a practice for his team’s big upcoming week. The Cougars didn’t look good in a blowout loss, but 24 hours later Davis’ plan started coming to fruition.

Medgar Evers defeated red-hot Lincoln, 48-40, in PSAL Brooklyn AA girls basketball Monday in Coney Island. It was perhaps the Cougars’ biggest win of the season.

Ashley Castle had 18 points for Medgar Evers (10-6, 8-3) and Keyanna Jean Louis had 10 points. Lincoln, which came in ranked No. 7 in the PSAL by The Post, fell to 11-5 and 8-4 in Brooklyn AA Group 2. The Cougars host Grand Street on Wednesday and travel to Francis Lewis on Friday during this crucial stretch.

Murry Bergtraum 44, Clinton 33: Dionne Coe had 21 points and five assists and Kassandra Flowers had 12 points, including five 3-pointers, for Bergtraum (14-3, 10-0 Manhattan AA). Clinton is 2-9 in Bronx AA.

Truman 41, FDA 8: Marika Gordon had 17 points and 18 rebounds and Daquana Smith had 11 rebounds to lead Truman (11-9, 6-4 Bronx AA). FDA is 0-10 in Manhattan AA.

NON-LEAGUE

Tottenville 62, St. Joseph by the Sea 46: Kelly Fraser had 28 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks to lead Tottenville (16-2). Victoria McFarland had 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, Samantha Mattsson had nine points and nine rebounds, Georganna Pennington had nine points and Giovanna Blanco added eight rebounds. St. Joseph by the Sea is 4-10.

CHSAA STATEN ISLAND

St. John Villa 56, St. Joseph Hill 40: Nicole Francomano scored a game-high 15 points for St. John Villa (10-7, 4-2) in CHSAA Staten Island. Sam Long had 12 points and Brittany Sullivan added 11. Kelsey Carey led St. Joseph Hill with nine points. Brittany Spoto and Kieran Meagher each added seven.

IVY LEAGUE

Dalton 57, Fieldston 39: Isabel Feldman scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half, including two big 3-pointers, for Dalton (6-6, 1-5). Janelle Bradley had 12 points and Alexa Yurick added 10. Carolyn Susman led Fieldston with 12 points

PSAL CLASS A

Goldstein 56, FDR 40: Chrissy McKeever had 13 points and Brittany McDonough and Nora Elbassiony each had 10 points for Goldstein (14-2, 11-0 Brooklyn A South). Breanna Earle had 13 points, Angelica Nelson had 11 points and Devin DiPietro added 10 for FDR (4-8).

Brooklyn Collegiate 68, Wingate 51: Stephanie Portis and Victoria Thomas each had 15 points to lead Brooklyn Collegiate (15-6, 11-0 Brooklyn A East). Emonni Cropper and Jasmine Jones both had 12 points apiece. Wingate is 7-4.

South Bronx 43, Gompers 38: Shaakira Harewood had 22 points and Chassidy Byers had 10 points for South Bronx (9-3 Bronx A South). Gompers is 5-8.

Long Island City 45, Richmond Hill 36: Chelsea Paredes had 14 points and Dominique Chatman had 12 points for LIC (3-8 Queens A West). Stacy Jaikaran had 13 points and Marfry Hernandez had 12 points for Richmond Hill (2-8).

ISAL

Columbia Prep 53, UNIS 35: Penny Savryn had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Alanna Aurelian had 12 points and 15 rebounds for Columbia Prep (8-6, 5-2 ISAL). Lauren Soll added 11 rebounds. UNIS is 0-5 in league play.

PSAL CLASS B

Scholars Academy 45, Law Enforcement & Public Safety 35: Becky Moers had 12 points and Taylor Gallagher had 11 points to lead Scholars (18-1, 13-0 Queens B East), which clinches the division title with the victory. LEAPS falls to 10-3 — all three losses coming to Scholars Academy.

Manhattan Village 55, Math, Science and Engineering 15: Nubia Haynes had 27 points and Grace Geist had 18 points to lead Manhattan Village (10-3 Manhattan B West). Shaquasia Myrie had 13 points for MSE (2-12).
