Truck kills stylist Laurence Renard on Upper East Side

A celebrity stylist was crushed to death yesterday by a garbage truck as she was crossing an Upper East Side street, police said.

Laurence Renard, 35, who worked with Mexican singer Paulina Rubio and famed photographer Bruce Weber, was a block from her home on First Avenue near 90th Street when an unlicensed truck driver making a sharp left turn fatally struck her at 5:40 p.m., police said.

The French fashion designer had styled ads for Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie and Fitch.

“This is unbelievable,” said her sister-in-law Elizabeth Villalonga. “She was an amazing human being. She was kind, sweet and artistic.”

The truck driver, Diego A. Tapia-Ulloa, 23, was charged for driving with a suspended license. Sources said the impact severed the victim’s body.

“The truck came around the corner like a bat out of hell,” said Greg Moran, 33, a witness.

“This thing was massive and she never saw it coming. She didn’t stand a chance,” Moran said.
