M101 tops bus crash courses

Next stop: the emergency room.

The M101 bus was the most dangerous in the city last year, crashing 268 times on its 12-mile route between Washington Heights and the East Village, according to data The Post obtained with a Freedom of Information Law request.

The next most hazardous was the M15, which logged 203 accidents on its roughly 14-mile East Harlem-South Ferry route.

The M101 is one of the longest and busiest of the city’s 200-plus bus routes, with an hourlong circuit that begins at West 193rd Street and ends at East 8th Street.

Young and inexperienced drivers are thrown onto the obstacle-filled route because their more experienced colleagues use their seniority to pick easier lines, one driver said.
