Ochocinco says ‘anyone would die to play for’ Jets coach: report

Darrelle Revis and Bart Scott are trying to get Chad Ochocinco to join them on the Jets, but the man who could do it is head coach Rex Ryan.

“I respect the New York area, they have a great coach that anyone would die to play for … a very player-friendly coach,” Ochocino told ESPN at an event in Orlando, Fla.

Revis and Scott also have appeared there this week, each mentioning the chances Ochocinco could become a Jets teammate. Revis also said during Super Bowl week in Dallas he was trying to recruit Ochocinco
.

The Jets could lose top receivers Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards to free agency, depending on the outcome of the NFL labor talks.

Ochocinco, who this offseason has hinted he could change teams and heard Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer mention retirement, did not say he still plans to leave the Bengals.

“I’m a Cincinnati Bengal at heart, I always will be,” Ochocinco said. “And hopefully things turn around for us as a team, especially the situation with our quarterback right now.”

Palmer reportedly has said he will never step foot in the Bengals’ stadium again.

Ochocinco, who has feuded with Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, repeated the thought he would enjoy playing for Ryan
.

“It’s like a player as the coach,” Ochocinco said of the Jets’ outspoken leader. “He has the same mindset that we should have, but he says what he feels. You’re not supposed to do that as a head coach. But when you do, it’s awesome. That’s a very refreshing feeling, very refreshing.”
