‘The King’s Speech’ tops ‘Inglourious Basterds’ as Weinstein Company’s top-grossing film

Quentin Tarantino’s World War II epic “Inglourious Basterds” is no longer The Weinstein Company’s highest-grossing domestic release after being unseated by the Oscar-winning drama “The King’s Speech,” IGN reported Tuesday.

According to Showbiz 411, “The King’s Speech” surpassed “Basterds” as the company’s top North American release as of last weekend’s box office. The Tom Hooper-directed period drama is also poised to topple Tarantino’s film as Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s top international release.

According to Box Office Mojo, the domestic total for “The King’s Speech” currently stands at $123.5 million, compared to $120.5 million for “Inglourious Basterds,” which opened in August 2009.

“Inglourious Basterds'” worldwide tally is $313.6 million, to $310.3 million and counting for “The King’s Speech,” which is still going strong in theaters worldwide.
