Morning Mike

Michael Strahan is going to get his screen test.

The former Giants star yesterday said he will get a chance to co-host “Live With Regis & Kelly” sometime within the next month — with a shot at getting the job as replacement for departing Regis Philbin.

“Yeah, I’m serious,” Strahan said on radio’s “Dan Patrick Show.” “That would be a phenomenal job. I’d love it.”

Strahan, a co-host on the “Fox NFL Sunday” pregame show, said representatives from “Live,” which airs on ABC, are willing to give him a try.

“I think I may go in . . . two or three weeks and co-host one day,” he says.

The former defensive end has a lot of company angling for Regis’ old job.

Among the names said to be in the running are the anchor of “Extra,” Mario Lopez, Ripa’s husband actor Mark Consuelos, “20/20” anchor Chris Cuomo and former “Access Hollywood” reporter Tony Potts.

Officials at the show have said they intend to test a number of candidates as guest co-hosts over the next few months before making a decision. Regis is due to leave in October.

“I think it’s one of those spontaneous-type jobs,” Strahan said. “You have to be quick on your feet and witty and fun and keep up with the culture . . . and being able to banter back and forth and being able to talk about your life and be open about it.

“That’s what [Regis] does, and I think I’d love to do that.”

Strahan, who holds the NFL single-season sacks record, retired after winning Super Bowl XLII with the Giants in 2008.
