‘Rockefeller’ wanted for murder in California

The German con man who crisscrossed America as a fake Rockefeller heir, will face a murder rap in Los Angeles for the 1985 slaying of his landlord, officials said today.

Christian Gerhartsreiter, 50, who passed himself off as “Clark Rockefeller,” was charged for the slaying of John Sohus, 27, who rented a guesthouse behind his San Marino home to the suspect.

Gerhartsreiter is now rotting in a Massachusetts lockup after he was convicted of kidnapping. He swiped his 7-year-old daughter, Reigh “Snooks” Boss, during a custodial visit on July 27, 2008.

He was arrested and Snooks was safely reunited with her mom on Aug. 2 after an intense manhunt.

If Gerhartsreiter hadn’t pulled that stunt, cops might have never discovered his connection to this California cold case.

John Sohus and wife Linda Sohus were last seen in early 1985. When they vanished, so did their life-of-the-party house guest Christopher Chichester — a mysterious European visitor who claimed lineage to British royalty, cops said.

LA authorities said they’re convinced that Chichester and Gerhartsreiter are the same man.

John Sohus’ remains were found in 1994 buried in his backyard. He died from a blow to the head.

Linda Sohus, 28, has not been found.

If convicted, Gerhartsreiter could spend 26 years to life in prison. Prosecutors will ask for $10 million bail when he’s finally arraigned.

LA prosecutors said they believe it’ll take about two months to extradite Gerhartsreiter.
