Five killed in plane crash at California airport

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Five people were killed Wednesday when a twin-engine plane crashed and burst into flames at California’s Long Beach Airport, local media reported.

Six people were on board the plane at the time of the accident, according to Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department.

One passenger survived the crash and was transported to a local hospital, KTLA-TV reported.

The accident occurred at 10:30am PT as the plane was taking off from the Los Angeles-area airport, headed to Salt Lake City, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Ian Gregor said.
