Justin Bieber’s hair goes on tour to raise money for Japan relief efforts

MIAMI — Pieces of hair cut from the head of pop singer Justin Bieber went on display in Miami Tuesday to raise money for relief efforts in Japan.

At the Lucky Strike Lanes in Miami, bodyguards were on hand to watch over a glass case that contained the locks of hair Bieber famously chopped off in February, as throngs of fans passed by to catch a glimpse of the famous tresses, TMZ reported.

Bieber followers, known as Beliebers, can pose for a photo with the discarded hair if they make a donation to support relief efforts in Japan. The hair is expected to be put on display at locations across the US.

In early March, a lock of hair from the head of the singer fetched more than $40,000 in an eBay auction.

Bieber, who had been known for the luscious locks that cascaded across his forehead, opted for a shorter coiffure in late February and presented talk show host Ellen DeGeneres with a remnant of his signature hairdo when he appeared on her show.

DeGeneres put the gift up for auction with the proceeds benefiting animal rescue organization, The Gentle Barn Foundation.
