DJ slain scoring pot: cops

The hip-hop DJ murdered near his Staten Island home over the weekend was out on a pot-buying run and talking to a pal on the phone when he was gunned down, law-enforcement sources revealed yesterday.

Corey McGriff, a k a DJ Megatron, was chatting with a friend, telling him he was buying marijuana, at 2 a.m. Sunday when the line suddenly went dead, a source said.

The pal, who was not identified, told police that he didn’t hear any shots, cops said they found the cellphone near the body, and at least three young men were spotted fleeing from the scene.

Investigators are weighing such possible scenarios as a random crime, a drug deal gone awry and even a hit.

McGriff, 32, who had just left his 4-year-old son home alone, worked on radio with WQHT-FM Hot 97 and on TV with BET but had only $1 in his wallet, and cops said a gal pal was paying his bills.

He also leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter and a 9-month-old son.

“They’re trying to cope with the situation, especially the 11-year-old,” said his mom, Louvenia. “She’s very hurt and upset and doesn’t understand why anyone would want to do that to her dad.”
