MTA demands sp’oils’ of art

An East Village artist uses MetroCards as canvases for her oil paintings, and now the MTA is demanding a 10 percent cut.

After selling the paintings on the Web site Etsy, V.H. McKenzie got an e-mail from the MTA saying she needed a licensing agreement.

Transit officials said a $4.80 commission from each of her paintings could help stave off a fare hike.
