‘SNL’ stud Jason Sudeikis to host the 2011 MTV Movie Awards

“Saturday Night Live” comedian Jason Sudeikis will host the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, the network announced Wednesday.

“He is a smartass and a gentleman who never goes for the easy or obvious joke,” MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement about choosing the NBC funnyman.

The unceremonious event, that includes parodies of cliched movie scenes and unrelenting gibes at actors, will be held in Los Angeles June 5.

“I’m sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year and I look forward to keeping the streak of flawless and critically-lauded movie award show hosting in 2011 alive,” Sudeikis said in the statement.

“Parks and Recreation” actor Aziz Ansari hosted the show in 2010 and fellow “SNL” pal Andy Samberg hosted the year before.
