We realize it’s our last chance to step up

Landry Fields is keeping a daily playoff diary for The Post, as the 22-year-old rookie shoot ing guard chronicles his first postseason series, the Knicks’ first- round battle with the Cel tics. As told to Mark Hale.

It’s definitely tough to watch tape of Game 3, because any time you see areas we need to improve, it’s tough because you know you could have been that much better. Hopefully we fix some things going into this next game.

They had a lot of second-chance opportunities Friday night. We had a lot of turnovers. I think they scored maybe 50 points off those two things. If we can cut that down this next game, it should be a lot better for us.

I think we’ve come to the realization that it’s always been for real, but now it’s really for real. We’ve got to go in today and I think everybody’s thinking about that, we want to do so well. We just want to get that win. I hope everybody has the mentality that today you win or go fishing. That’s what we’ve got to do.

With me personally, it’s just sometimes I get this tunnel vision where I want to do so well, I start pressing and I’m trying to make a lot of plays and trying to force things. That’s not really in my game. It’s not really what I’ve done all year. But my best performance is when I just let the game come to me, go out there and play.

I know it’s late in the season and all that stuff, but if I can get back to that this next game and hopefully progress from there, no matter what happens it’ll be better in the long run for me.

I don’t know what got me away from that. It might be just the Carmelo Anthony trade, trying to figure out where I can be most successful and trying different things. But at the end of the day, I’ve just got to play my game. I’ve got to do what’s gotten me here to this point.
