Long live the king!

Reign is in the forecast for Wills and Kate — and The Post is more than happy to give a glimpse of what it might look like.

Brits are clinking their pint glasses in the hope that Prince William and Kate Middleton will settle into a nice, middle-aged monarchy — as depicted in this Post illustration.

A survey by UK pollster YouGov last week found 47 percent of Brits want the 28-year-old prince and his 29-year-old bride to leapfrog Prince Charles and Camilla to the throne. Only 34 percent think Charles should become king.

The Prince of Wales, 62, also earned the dubious honor last week of being the longest-serving heir apparent in British history, having waited to take over from Queen Elizabeth II, 85, for 59 years, two months and 14 days.

Getting Wills to the front of the line is no easy feat. Charles could abdicate the title, but if he refuses, the country’s succession laws would have to be changed — which would require approvals in all 16 states where the British monarch still ceremonially rules. With Post Wire Services
