Giuliani calls bin Laden’s death ‘significant victory’ against terrorism

A day after terror lord Osama bin Laden was killed, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani called his death a “significant victory” against terrorism and said “justice has been served.”

The elimination of Osama Bin Laden is a significant victory in the war against terror,” he said. “It removes a leader of diabolical proportions and it offers some measure of satisfaction for all those who suffered such great losses from his unjustifiable and inhumane attacks.”

Giuliani, who was dubbed “America’s Mayor” for his leadership in the days and hours following the 9/11 attacks, said President Obama should be praised for his efforts.

“President Obama, our military and intelligence service deserve our admiration for their courage, dedication and professionalism,” he said. “God bless all those and their families who we have lost and God bless America.”

In an address at Ground Zero this afternoon, Mayor Bloomberg said, “Ten years ago a terrible evil visited this place. Today, let the spirits that are all around us know some peace and justice.”

He also applauded the efforts undertaken to take out bin Laden.

“Last night, spontaneous celebrations occurred here in Lower Manhattan, in Times Square, at the White House, in other public spaces and within private homes around the country and the world,” he said. “They were a tribute to the selfless valor and dedication of our armed forces, and to all those who have worked to prevent terrorist attacks over the past nine and a half years.”
