Boxing: Dykstra pulls out of bout

Lenny Dykstra pulled out of last night’s celebrity boxing match against Jose Canseco in Hollywood, Calif., despite being paid $5,000 cash on Thursday, according to the bout’s promoter Damon Feldman.

Feldman told philly.com Dykstra was paid cash and was to receive another $10,000 after the fight but informed promoters around 6 p.m. last night that he would not show up.

Former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier has liver cancer and is under hospice care.

Frazier’s illness was first reported by The Post in yesterday’s editions.

The 67-year-old boxer was diagnosed four or five weeks ago. Frazier’s manager Leslie Wolff told the AP doctors have not yet told Frazier how long he has to live.

In Quebec City, Lucian Bute successfully defended his IBF super-middleweight title with a one-sided decision over Glen Johnson.

Golf: Berliner tied for lead

In Port St. Lucie, Fla., Scott Berliner, an assistant pro at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, N.Y., shot a 71 and Aaron Clark shot a 2-under 70 to tie for a share of the third-round lead in the Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship.

Anthony Casalino of Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, N.Y., was a stroke back after a 71. Defending champ Frank Bensel of Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. was tied for 24th.

In San Francisco, Jay Don Blake has a two-stroke lead after the third round of the Champions Tour’s Charles Schwab Championship.
