Giants’ Tuck ‘expected a little bit more’ from Eagles

Giants defensive end Justin Tuck believes the rival Eagles are failing their chemistry class.

“I think everybody expected a little bit more,’’ Tuck said yesterday on The Jim Rome Show. “I think with the talent they have on their football team, they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the league. When they put it together, the thing I was quoted saying is, ‘You can’t buy championships.’ And what I meant by that is, you’ve got to build chemistry.’’

The Eagles, a self-proclaimed Dream Team and an overwhelming favorite to win the NFC East, are 3-5 and tied with the Redskins for last place.

“You can have all the talent in the world, [but] if you’re not out there playing as one, if you’re just 11 individuals, you’re not gonna beat anybody in this league,’’ Tuck said. “And I think right now that’s some of the issues that they’re having. Nobody can question how talented they are, nobody can question how good of a coach Andy Reid is. Everybody knows that. You need more than talent in this league, because every team has talent.”

UPDATES FROM OUR GIANTS BLOG

* The Giants waived OL Adam Koets from the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Koets, a 2007 sixth-round draft pick who has had more than his share of injuries, tore his ACL last November. He was returning from the knee injury when he hurt his back during rehab. In four years, he played just 11 games, starting four in 2010.

* LB Mathias Kiwanuka was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Giants with 12 tackles (six solo) against the Patriots. He also halted a Patriots drive on the first play of the second quarter when he intercepted a Tom Brady pass tipped by Michael Boley at the Giants’ 19-yard line.

* The Giants signed DE Craig Marshall — a teammate of Jason Pierre-Paul and Jacquian Williams at South Florida — to the practice squad and cut FB Alex Daniels.

* How’s this for consistency? At midseason in 2010, the Giants had committed 51 accepted penalties for 435 yards. This year they have committed 51 accepted penalties for 421 yards.
