Thief nailed at Zuccotti

Just another day at Zuccotti Park.

A raging lunatic was body-slammed yesterday when he tried to swipe medication and a jar full of cash from a plumber who was taking up a collection for himself and 9/11 first responders.

“It’s over with,” Walter Hillegass, 34, told The Post. “He grabbed my jar [of money] and my pills. I grabbed the guy and threw him.”

The unidentified alleged thief landed hard on a pair of pitched tents, which instantly collapsed on impact, and lay motionless for several minutes.

When he regained consciousness, cops escorted him several blocks away but did not arrest him. Several protesters said the man has been harassing them for days.

Hillegass, who claims to have spent five days hauling debris from Ground Zero in 2001, suffers from serious ailments he believes were contracted on the toxic pile.

“I’m in a bad financial situation because I was denied workers’ comp, since I was a volunteer,” he said.

The bad vibes came in marked contrast to an appearance by Woodstock rockers David Crosby and Graham Nash, who — less cohorts Stephen Stills and Neil Young — performed “Teach Your Children” and “Military Madness.”
