Rid Of Me

James Westby’s mumblecore-ish, horror-tinged romantic drama may open with a flash-forward showing the protagonist smearing a rival with menstrual blood, but “Carrie” it’s not.

In truth, Katie O’Grady’s character seems to have more than a few screws loose a few months earlier, when she arrives in Portland, Ore., the hometown of her new husband (John Keyser).

His friends are so (inexplicably) hostile to her — and she’s so socially maladroit — that he quickly dumps her for an old girlfriend.

But our formerly meek heroine insists on sticking around and morphing into a Goth wreck with a predilection for booze, random sex and other forms of self-humiliation.

O’Grady is very good, but she can’t make the hard-to-watch “Rid of Me” dramatically credible.
