Eagles’ Vick unlikely to play vs. Giants: report

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is unlikely to play Sunday night against the Giants after breaking two ribs in last Sunday’s game, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Vince Young and Mike Kafka were set to take the first-team quarterback snaps in Wednesday’s practice, with Vick sitting out.

Head coach Andy Reid said Vick’s ribs remain sore, but would not rule out the Pro Bowler for Sunday’s trip to New Jersey.

Vick broke two of his lower ribs during Sunday’s 21-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but only missed one play in the game. Though he remained on the field, Vick appeared to be struggling with his accuracy, and completed just 16 of 34 attempts.

Despite taking numerous hard hits this season, Vick has started every game. He suffered a concussion in the second half of the Week 2 loss at Atlanta and was replaced by Kafka.

Young, a two-time Pro Bowler with the Tennessee Titans, was out for the game in Atlanta, but is normally the Eagles’ backup quarterback with Kafka serving as the third-stringer.
