Wasting green on greenies: No more solar Bam scams

The Issue: A $1.4 billion federal loan guarantee for a “green jobs” firm linked to Robert Kennedy Jr.

If this isn’t cronyism at its worst, what is (“Greasing the Solar Skids,” Editorial, Nov. 19)?

President Obama’s modus operandi seems to be giving away taxpayer dollars without hope of success. And his affixing the name of Robert Kennedy Jr. to another solar flare-up is just one more example of Obama’s lack of integrity.

These are the very elements of character that American voters seem to be overlooking at the ballot box.

The duplicity between the US Department of Energy and former VantagePoint official Sanjay Wagle raises the stink level to 10.

Now that Obama’s dirty dealing has put the BrightSource spotlight on one of America’s “royal family” members, it’s time for another investigation.

Just like Obama is gunning to pull us out of Iraq, no matter what, he should show the same urgency in getting out of the solar-energy business.

The idea that Democratic-style crony capitalism begins and ends with Solyndra is about as believable as Attorney General Eric Holder’s testimony before Congress about Fast and Furious.

For the Democrats, feelings trump facts and the heart rules the head.

Green energy feels good, and the standard investment rules and parameters simply don’t apply.

Throw a Kennedy or two into the mix, and the whole unlikely boondoggle acquires an aura of glamor that stymies analysis — at least in the liberal world.

Thus, a dozen sea birds fouled by an oil spill represent a tragedy — while million of birds killed annually by windfarms producing green energy are only a barely regrettable statistic.

And so it goes at the court of Obama, successor to Camelot.
