Boys basketball roundup: Hayes leads QHST to overtime win over Bryant

Isaiah Hayes scored 34 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in his Queens A West debut, leading Queens HS of Teaching to a thrilling 84-82 overtime win over Bryant in the two teams’ league opener Wednesday afternoon. Denzel Thomas added 25 points and 15 rebounds and Justin Alvarez had 10 for QHST (1-0). Bryant is 0-1.

Brooklyn Collegiate 96, Prospect Heights 37: Ervin Mitchell poured in 40 points and added eight rebounds, Jahlil Tripp posted 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Kirthly Reid had 10 for Brooklyn Collegiate (2-0) in Brooklyn A East. Prospect Heights is 1-1.
