‘DWI’ trucker slams man, 90

A maniacal motorist whipping through Brooklyn in a coffee truck mowed down a 90-year-old man yesterday, and was nabbed by a good Samaritan after trying to flee the scene, cops and witnesses said.

The elderly victim was clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital last night.

The harrowing drama unfolded when Hernan Diaz, traveling west on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, slammed into the man near Orient Avenue at about 11:30 a.m., cops said.

“Coffee cups fell out of the back of the truck, and he was going very fast,” said witness Aslam Khan, 50, a mechanic.

Diaz, 47, zoomed off, but was followed by another motorist, who stopped him at Lorimer Street and Meeker Avenue, cops said.

Responding officers arrested Diaz on charges of DWI, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
