Skins’ Hall: Sanchez is off Mark

For Mark Sanchez, the critics keep on coming.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall is the latest to take a shot at the Jets quarterback.

“He doesn’t take as many chances as much as he just gets confused sometimes,” Hall told the Washington Post. “A lot of times he just comes out and stares a receiver down, tries to throw him the ball. He puts it on those guys to make plays. They haven’t made as many plays this year as they have in previous years.”

Sanchez was unavailable to respond to Hall’s remarks because he only speaks to the reporters who regularly cover the team after games and on Wednesdays. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer came to Sanchez’s defense, though.

“I think there are times where any quarterback, people can say they’re staring down their receiver,” Schottenheimer said. ”I would not say that, when we evaluate it, that he is staring down his receivers. We think that he’s working through his progressions. I think there are some decisions that he’d like to have back, but I don’t agree with that.”

Hall was not totally negative about Sanchez.

“I’d say he’s middle of the pack. Definitely not the worst in the league. He’s a capable quarterback,” Hall said. “He’s taken them to a couple AFC Championships, so he definitely knows how to win the big games.”

Hall made it clear the Redskins plan on forcing Sanchez to beat them Sunday.

“He’s got a lot of talent, but if you can harass him and make him take it all on his shoulders, that’s your best chance to win,” Hall said.

Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes said Hall does not know what he is talking about.

“He’s a pretty good defensive back,” Holmes said. “He’s made a lot of plays. He’s been to the Pro Bowl. He’s done everything he has to do. He doesn’t play quarterback. He doesn’t know how receivers run routes. My comment to that is he made what he made, but we know who our quarterback is.”
