Red Hot Chili Peppers announce upcoming tour

LOS ANGELES — The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced Monday they are going on tour, nearly five years since the band last hit the road to perform.

“Red Hot Chili Peppers will launch the North American leg of their ‘I’m With You’ World Tour in January,” the group said in a statement on its website.

The first announced stops in the US tour include three gigs in North Carolina, one show in Columbia, S.C., and Duluth, Ga., and then a February performance in Memphis, Tenn.

Additional US stops will be added in the coming weeks.

The group is also heading to Europe over the summer to perform in Russia, Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria.

The Grammy Award-winning band released its 10th studio album “I’m with You” in August.
