Jerry Sandusky released from jail after posting $250K bail, wife says he’s innocent

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Accused child molester Jerry Sandusky walked out of a Pennsylvania jail Thursday after posting bail on new charges of sexual abuse, The Harrisburg Patriot-News reported.

Sandusky will be subject to electronic monitoring and home confinement as a condition of his release.

The 67-year-old was arrested Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office following the release of a new grand jury report detailing the alleged abuse of two new victims.

Sandusky’s wife broke her silence todayy to insist her husband was innocent and the target of “false” allegations.

Dottie Sandusky also said she was “shocked and dismayed” by claims she ignored one victim’s pleas for help as he was attacked in the family basement.

The disgraced coach’s wife has remained largely out of sight as sex abuse allegations engulfed her husband.

But her statement, released Thursday, comes after a new grand jury report contained testimony suggesting she was inside the Sandusky home while alleged attacks took place there.

“I have been shocked and dismayed by the allegations made against Jerry, particularly the most recent one that a now young man has said he was kept in our basement during visits and screamed for help as Jerry assaulted him while I was in our home and didn’t respond to his cries for help,” she said.

“As the mother of six children, I have been devastated by these accusations. I am also angry about these false accusations that such a terrible incident ever occurred in my home.”

Dottie Sandusky was referring to testimony from one of Sandusky’s newest accusers, referred to as Victim 9 in a grand jury report released Wednesday. He said he screamed out as he was being assaulted, telling investigators he knew Sandusky’s wife was upstairs yet no one came to help him.

The alleged victim claimed he had “barely any” contact with Sandusky’s wife during his multiple overnight stays, saying she “never” came into the basement while he was there.

Dottie Sandusky’s statement came after her husband was released Thursday from a brief stint in jail stemming from the latest allegations of abuse.

She reportedly showed up at the Centre County Correctional Facility, just outside State College, Pa., with a $50,000 certified check to help secure the former Penn State assistant football coach’s release on $250,000 bail.

The couple reportedly used real estate holdings to put up the remaining $200,000.

“I am so sad anyone would make such a terrible accusation which is absolutely untrue,” Dottie Sandusky went on in her statement. “We don’t know why these young men have made these false accusations, but we want everyone to know they are untrue.

“I am asking everyone to please be reasonable and open-minded until both sides of this case are heard, and Jerry has the opportunity to prove his innocence.”
