Gunman dead after opening fire outside Los Angeles FedEx office

LOS ANGELES — A gunman opened fire outside a FedEx office in a busy Los Angeles neighborhood Friday, wounding at least one person before being shot and killed by police, FOX News Channel reported.

Los Angeles police responded to the FedEx store near the intersection of Sunset and Vine streets in Hollywood around 10:15am local time after witnesses said at least 10 shots were fired in the area, KTTV reported.

Los Angeles police confirmed that an officer killed a male suspect who had been firing a gun at cars.

A witness told KTTV that he saw the gunman walking up the street shooting randomly and said one of the shots hit a person who was getting into a parked car. Another witness said he saw the suspect using a handgun to fire off rounds in the air.

The wounded bystander was transported to a nearby hospital, and the victim’s condition was not immediately known. Police have shut down the intersection as the investigation continues.

Sunset and Vine is considered the heart of Hollywood and is teeming with businesses and tourists.
