Keep opening hearts, NY

As slain Officer Peter Figoski was laid to rest yesterday, New Yorkers continued their outpouring of sympathy for his family with fresh donations to the scholarship fund for his four grieving daughters — putting the total so far at more than $662,000.

The Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund, established last week by the New York Post and the New York City Police Foundation, is raising money so Figoski’s goal of sending his beloved girls to college is realized.

Checks and online pledges have been coming in from celebrities and everyday New Yorkers, all moved by the utter tragedy of Figoski’s murder.

Figoski, 47, is survived by daughters Christine, 19, a SUNY Oneonta undergrad; Caitlyn, 18, a SUNY Plattsburgh undergrad; and Caroline, 16, and Corrine, 14, high- school students in West Babylon, LI.

“The New York Post has always stood with the brave heroes who stand tall protecting us,” said former Gov. George Pataki. “I urge all New Yorkers to join them and give from the heart to support the Police Officer Peter Figoski [Scholarship] Fund.”

Mail and online donations should be clearly marked for the Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund.
