This statement from slain Officer Peter Figoski’s four daughters was read at his funeral yesterday:
To all our family, friends and police officers who have become an amazing support group for us and helped us in our time of need, we’d like to express how much you mean to all of us. You have made an impact throughout this past week.
The loss of a loved one, especially our dad, has not been easy. But with everybody’s company and sympathy and generosity and support, it gives us hope that, in time, everything will be OK.
The help and comfort of every police officer that has spent the past week with us whenever we’ve needed anything has made us an understanding difference. We now feel connected to a side of our dad we rarely saw at home. He put us aside from his duties as a police officer and always put us first. The ongoing condolences from officers who worked with our dad has helped us realize all the passion he had, his outrageous dedication as a father and as a police officer.
We are proud to call him our dad.
To honor his bravery, a special thanks from our hearts to Glenn Estrada, a courageous hero, and also to Ricky, Burt and Larry. They have not only touched our father’s life but also touched ours.
We will forever remember all of the memories with our dad and our loyal family. We are grateful for all the love and support from each and every individual. Our father would be so honored and so proud by all this, and is forever in our hearts.
It is said, “When a hero falls, an angel rises.” Rest in peace, Daddy.
