On the day Officer Peter Figoski was buried, the judge who once freed his accused killer in a controversial no-bail move returned to work.
Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Evelyn Laporte resurfaced after taking two days off last week amid security concerns that prompted the posting of police guards outside her home.
Sources said Laporte had received threats after Mayor Bloomberg thrashed her for allowing alleged cop-killer Lamont Pride back on the streets without bail following a drug bust last month. Pride is accused of gunning down Figoski last week.
Lawyers have defended Laporte, saying Pride’s drug bust didn’t warrant being remanded at the time.
But Laporte came under fire again yesterday from a suspect’s lawyer — this time, for doling out an “unusually harsh sentence” of 15 days to his client, a minor drug offender.
