Win over Jets ‘saved’ Coughlin’s job with Giants: report

Tom Coughlin will be the Giants coach next season whether or not his team beats the Cowboys on Sunday night.

FOX Sports reported on their pregame show that the 29-14 win over the Jets is the reason Coughlin is safe. .

“I was told that his win against the Jets last week was the biggest win in Tom Coughlin’s New York Giants career since the Super Bowl,” FOX reporter Jay Glazer said. “They said it really saved him. Had they lost last week, he would’ve been squarely on the hot seat. Even if he loses against the Cowboys tonight, he’s probably safe because of that win against the Jets.”

CBS also reported that Coughlin would be back, and so will Andy Reid with the Eagles.

If the Giants do beat the Cowboys they will win the NFC East despite an injury-riddled season. A loss and their season ends at 8-8 with Coughlin having one year left on his contract.
