Boys basketball holiday roundup: Whitehead leads Lincoln into MaxPreps final against Mater Dei

Isaiah Whitehead’s best game out west has sent Lincoln into the MaxPreps Holiday Classic Exhibition Division championship game where it gets a chance to prove it’s among the nation’s elite.

Whitehead scored 25 points, Ian Vasquez followed with 14 points, Shaquille Davis had 13 and Travis Charles notched 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Railsplitters (9-0) topped two-time tournament champion Harvard-Westlake (Calif.), 81-70, Thursday night in Palm Springs, Calif. Now they face Mater Dei (Calif.), the national powerhouse ranked sixth by USA Today, in the final at 10:15 p.m. eastern time.

St. Raymond 60, Millbrook (N.C.) 56: Myron Hickman scored a team-high 14 points, Kerwin Okoro had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Daniel Dingle added 12 points and 11 rebound for St. Raymond (7-3), which advances to the championship game of the American Airlines bracket of the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. The Ravens will face Garner (N.C.) Friday at 7:20 p.m.

Transit Tech 67, Midwood 29: Richard Williams scored 23 points and Fabian MacDonald had 22 points and six 3-pointers for Transit Tech (7-6) at the Aviator Shootout in Brooklyn. The game was cut short by the referees with 2:35 left in the third quarter out of fear of an incident after repeated heated arguments between the two teams.

Bayside 68, St. Edmund Prep 57: Uzonna Akazi had 25 points and 16 rebounds, Brandon King had 16 points and Austin Williams followed with 13 points and six assists for Bayside (9-4) in the Queens Jam Christmas Classic at John Bowne in Queens. Nick Grasso scored 23 points for St. Edmund (8-2) in a losing effort.

St. Francis Prep 71, Evander Childs 48: Michael Fields scored 22 points to lead St. Francis Prep (6-5) at the Aviator Shootout. Andrew Winter and Darren Cordero each had 13, Gabriel Gonzalez had 11 and James Chavis added eight. Romaine Thomas tallied 25 points for Evander Childs.

Regis 57, Jesuit (La.) 55: Tim Petriccione scored 18 points, Sam Hauser had 16 and Marlon Brewer 10 for Regis in the consolation bracket of the Jesuit Christmas Classic in North Bethesda, Md. The Raiders meet Bellamine (Wash.) in the fifth-place game Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Moore Catholic 71, Yarmouth (Me.) 38: John Baggs scored 20 points, Frank Schettino ahd eight points and 13 assists for Moore (13-0) in the Portland Holiday Tournament in Portland, Me. The Mavericks meet Corham (Me.) in the championship of their bracket Friday at 1 p.m.

Gompers 66, James Monroe 57: Jordan Webb pumped in 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Carlos Galan had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Pierce Smith added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Gompers (6-4), which has won six straight games, in the Kingdome Classic championship game at Gompers.

Law & Technology 60, Beach Channel 55: Ibra Toure had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Anton Williams added 14 points for Law & Technology (8-5) in the Queens Jam Christmas Classic at John Bowne in Queens. Ismail Abdullah had 19 points for Beach Channel.

Flushing 38, John Bowne 37: Kylique Lipscome led Flushing with 11 points, while sophomore forward O’Shayne Reid led Bowne (6-5) with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Queens Jam Christmas Classic.

Newtown 56, South Bronx 45: Chris Smith scored 16 points for Newtown. Joshua Mitchell paced South Bronx with 22 points in the Queens Jam Christmas Classic.

Thomas Edison 62, Blessed Sacrament 49: Craig Ramsey had 17 points and seven rebounds, Deshawn Cann had 16 points and five assists and Mamadou Diarra added 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for Edison (4-7) in the Queens Jam Christmas Classic at John Bowne. Blessed Sacrament is now 1-8.

Plainfield (N.J.) 72, McKee/Staten Island Tech 56: Osa Izevbuwa scored 22 points for MSIT (8-5) in the Planet Athlete National Holiday Invitational Showcase in Plainfield, N.J.

Victor (N.Y.) 54, St. Joseph by the Sea 43: Justin Henderson had 14 points and Stephen Matrangolo added 10 for Sea (4-7) in the Cicero Tournament in Syracuse.

Susan Wagner 60, Cape Elizabeth (Me.) 29: James Bertucci had 13 points, eight rebounds and six steals for Wagner in the Portland Holiday Tournament in Portland, Me. The Falcons play in their bracket championship game against a team to be determined Friday at 4 p.m.

Grover Cleveland 78, American Studies 41: Sabiel Vargas scored 17 points, Kasean Jackson added 16 and Daryl Vega had 14 for Grover Cleveland (7-6) in the Pathways Holiday Classic. Dardan Lahu had 13 points and 14 rebounds for American Studies (1-7)

BCAM 63, Law Enforcement & Public Safety 45: Patrick Cross scored 25 points and Lance Chadwick added 19 for BCAM (9-5) in the Pathways Holiday Classic. Tymere Carson had 13 points for Law Enforcement & Public Safety (5-3).

Pathways 68 , Queens HS of Teaching 59: Sam Annorh sank four 3-pointers and threw in 25 points, Jamel Holmes added 13 poitns and Shaliek Ulysee had 10 for Pathways (8-4). Denzel Thomas had 26 points for QHST (7-5) in the Pathways Holiday Classic.
