Private boys basketball roundup: Pavlin leads Calhoun past Trevor Day

Zuri Pavlin had 18 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and three assists as Calhoun topped rival Trevor Day Academy, 53-47 in New York City Athletic League (NYCAL) boys basketball Friday night. Jake Wegweiser added 18 points and hit three 3-pointers for Calhoun (3-5, 1-1), which hosts Horace Mann on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Trevor Day takes on Columbia Prep Monday at 4 p.m.

Columbia Prep 78, Loyola 63: Brian Lissak pumped in 39 points and Josh Mark added 14 for Columbia Prep (9-2, 3-0) in the NYCAL. The Manhattan school hosts Trevor Day Monday at 4 p.m.

IVY PREP LEAGUE

Fieldston 47, Horace Mann 37: Grady Smith scored 13 points for Fieldston (9-1, 3-0) in the Ivy Prep League. Thomas Schnepp led Horace Mann (2-4, 1-1) with 18 points. Fieldston visits Poly Prep Monday at 5 p.m. while Horace Mann visits Calhoun at 5:30 p.m.

ACIS

Packer Collegiate 44, St. Ann’s 29: Ethan Feldman scored 23 points on his 16th birthday, Jake Nidenberg scored the 1,000th point of his career and Nick Morton and Ellie Romano were integral to the win for Packer in the ACIS. The Pelicans (6-3, 5-1) face Staten Island Academy next Wednesday at 4 p.m. while St. Ann’s hosts Staten Island Academy Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Berkeley Carroll 54, Brooklyn Friends 40: Ian Miller had 21 points and four steals, Shane Pearley added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and Dondre Benson and Mike Andria grabbed seven rebounds apiece for Berkeley Carroll (8-2, 4-1) in the ACIS. The Lions host Dwight on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Jared Long led Brooklyn Friends with 16 points.

NON-LEAGUE

Albany Academy (N.Y.) 56, Collegiate 48: Connor Huff had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Ryan Frankel had 13 points for Collegiate, which rallied to take a three-point lead but missed an open layup and two free throws down the stretch. Jelanie Currie scored 20 points for Albany Academy (8-2). The Dutchmen will take on Riverdale in The Bronx Wednesday at 4 p.m.
