City subways hit with massive service changes

The holiday hangover on the city’s subway system kicks in this weekend.

The MTA — which took a break from most underground construction for the month of December — are making up for lost time with a slew of service changes impacting 17 subway lines over the weekend.

Numbered lines 1 through 6 lines all have service disruptions, as well as the lettered lines A, C, D, E, F, G, J, N, Q, R, and S.

Some of the worst changes affect 3 train riders.

A huge swath of that line — from 34th Street-Penn Station to New Lots Avenue in Brooklyn — will be completely shuttered due to switch work north of 14th Street from 10 pm tonight to Monday morning.

Straphangers hoping to bypass the 3’s troubles in Manhattan by hopping the 2 are also out of luck.

The 2 won’t run express in either direction from Penn Station to Chambers due to the same switch repairs.

Meanwhile, E trains will run on the F tracks in both directions from 36th Street in Queens to West 4th in Manhattan because of signal system from midnight Saturday to Monday.

The re-routing of the E means the line’s platforms at Court Square, Lexington Ave-53rd Street, and 5th Ave will be closed, since there’s no M trains at all on the weekend.

There’s also no Q service between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Prospect Park from midnight Saturday though Monday morning because of track replacement work.
