Bx. suspect phones cops to tell them he killed girlfriend

A suicidal man called 911 from a TriBeca payphone today to tell cops he murdered his girlfriend in her Bronx apartment, authorities said.

The unidentified suspect made the call in front of 140 Church Street around 6:40 p.m. saying he wanted to kill himself and then gave an address in Soundview where his dead girlfriend could be found, cops said.

When police arrived at the pay phone, the man had already fled.

Officers went to the apartment on East 174th Street near Croes Avenue, they found the woman, believed to be in her 30s, lying lifeless in the living room, cops said.

She suffered head trauma and appeared to have been killed several days ago, cops said.

The victim’s neighbors said her boyfriend was frequently abusive.

“She said, ‘he’s going to kill me!,” said Linda Lincoln, 52.

But Lincoln added, “She always let him back in. He broke her collarbone, her ribs, and she told us he caused her a miscarriage from beating her.”
