Mayor Bloomberg yesterday defended Donald Trump’s plan to charge $100 to play at a planned city golf course in The Bronx.
“You play Pebble Beach?” Bloomberg asked a reporter questioning Ferry Point’s proposed $100 weekday and $125 weekend fees. “I never have,” Bloomberg said. “I can’t afford it. I think it’s $400 or $500 a round.”
Of course, the billionaire mayor could afford just about anything.
But his point was that it’s unfair to compare Ferry Point, a Jack Nicklaus-designed signature course aiming to compete with the nation’s best, to the city’s other 13 courses, which charge fees of $38 to $46.
