Richard Garriott wanted to be a NASA astronaut just like his father, Owen, but vision problems prevented him. So the younger Garriott, who became a millionaire as the inventor of the Ultima video game, paid $30,000 for a 10-day journey aboard a Russian Soyuz spaceship, which included a stopover at the International Space Station. The experience is documented in “Man on a Mission,’’ a super-dull documentary by Mike Woolf. Completely lacking in imagination and purpose, this vanity project might suffice as a home movie, but it’s hardly worth the expense and bother of seeing it in a theater.
