The standout sophomore had 21 points and sent the game into overtime with a halfcourt heave in an eventual 64-61 win over St. Francis Prep in CHSAA Class AA boys basketball Tuesday night in Fort Greene. Michael Williams added 13 points for Loughlin (5-5, 1-2 ‘AA’), which was coming off a tight, 77-75 loss to Christ the King on Friday night.
Michael Fields had 23 points and Andrew Winter tallied 15 for St. Francis (7-7, 1-2).
Cardinal Hayes 56, Fordham Prep 41: Shavar Newkirk scored 16 points and Angel Florentino had 10 for Hayes (12-1, 5-0 ‘AA). Fordham Prep is 3-8 overall and 0-5 in league.
Holy Cross 73, Archbishop Stepinac 53: Marquise Moore had 20 points and Mairega Clarke had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Holy Cross (10-2, 2-0 ‘AA’). Will Davis had 13 points and Anthony Libroia had 12 points and 11 assists. Josh James had 19 points for Stepinac (4-7, 1-6).
CHSAA CLASS A
Iona Prep 54, St. Edmund Prep 52: Tim McCarthy had 16 points and Brandon Williams had 10 points for Iona Prep (10-1, 4-0 ‘A’). Nick Grasso had 21 points and Matt O’Neill had 18 points for St. Edmund Prep (9-5, 1-3), which has lost three straight.
LaSalle 65, Cardinal Spellman 50: Shammgod Wells almost collected a triple double with 16 points, 14 assists and eight steals to lead LaSalle (5-7, 3-2 ‘A’). Chris Polanco had 17 points and six rebounds and Julian Wegner added 15 points.
CHSAA CLASS B
Sacred Heart 52, Cathedral Prep 39: Arjon Bequiri had 13 points, John Gauese had 11 points and B.J. White added 10 for Sacred Heart (7-4, 3-2 ‘B’). Chris Beetz had 14 points for Cathedral (5-9, 1-2).
IVY PREP LEAGUE
Riverdale 46, Dalton 38: Russell Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Kyle Friedman had 13 points for Riverdale (6-4, 3-1), which meets Collegiate Wednesday at 4 p.m. Dalton is 7-5 and 1-4.
NON-LEAGUE
St. Peter’s 54, Moore Catholic 40: Andrew Cannon had 14 points, Latrell Curtis had 12 points and Jack Shanahan added 10 for St. Peter’s (9-4). Mark Fiorello had 17 points for Moore (14-3).
