TSA’s lucrative plane change

All the loose change left behind by frantic fliers rushing through security at airports really adds up.

The TSA says it netted $409,085 last year. At JFK, it collected $46,918 — the most of any airport — while lagging a distant second was LAX with $19,110.

TSA spokesman Lisa Farbstein said unclaimed money is turned over to the agency’s financial office and could be spent on “security operations.”
