They want him to pay.

The family of slain swimsuit designer Sylvie Cachay is going after “every penny” that may come the way of her accused killer – the son of creepy “You Light Up My Life” tunesmith Joseph Brooks.

“We will take all steps to find any penny that he has, and every royalty that he has,” Susan Karten, a civil lawyer for the Cachay family, said after a brief appearance by Nicholas Brooks in Manhattan Criminal Court.

The 25-year-old Manhattan man is charged with killing his stunning 33-year-old girlfriend inside a tub at the sleek Soho House in December 2010 – then going to a party.

“We just want to make sure that everything is right for my sister, that this parasite ends up with consequences that are commensurate with his crime,” said her brother, Patrick Orlando, 35.

That includes seeing him rot in prison – and forking over any royalities he may receive from dad, who killed himself last spring.

The elder Brooks, who won an Oscar for the syrupy ’70s tune, was facing criminal charges in Manhattan for allegedly raping several young women lured to his Manhattan pad by promises of auditions and roles.

In addition to the murder charge, Nicholas Brooks is facing a wrongful-death lawsuit that Karten said he has defaulted on by not responding to in time.

“It means he’s guilty, it means he has no defense,” Karten said.

Nonsense, fired back defense lawyer Jeffrey Hoffman.

“That’s silly,” Hoffman said. “Being in jail and meeting court deadlines isn’t the easiest thing in the world.”

Hoffman also disputed Karten’s claim that Brooks is rich, saying he doesn’t have enough money to hire a lawyer in the civil case.

“From my knowledge, his father did not leave an estate,” Hoffman said.

“And I’m unaware of a trust fund or things of that nature.”
