PSAL boys basketball roundup: Curtis tops MSIT, clinches Staten Island A crown

Debonair Edwards poured in 26 points and Dontay Jackson followed with 17 as Curtis completed a season sweep of McKee/Staten Island Tech, 73-67, to clinch the Staten Island A crown, its third outright such title in a row, Monday night

Kevin McIntosh scored nine points and DaShawn Richmond had eight for Curtis (16-3, 12-0). Osa Izevbuwa and Kareem Martin scored 19 points apiece and Lamont Anderson had 11 for MSIT (16-7, 11-2), which will still qualify for the PSAL Class AA playoffs with its second-place finish.

CSI/McCown 58, Susan Wagner 52: Quamaine Tomlin had 28 points, Brandon O’Keefe had 11 points and Chris Frank 10 for CSI/McCown (12-6, 8-4) in Staten Island A. James Bertucci scored 22 points for Wagner (10-13, 6-7).

CLASS A

Columbus 73, Smith 67: Donivan Gray had 23 points, Tysum Williams scored 18 points and Xavier Norgbey had 15 for Columbus (10-6) in Bronx A East. Dionte Johnson had 19 points and seven rebounds and Paris Underwood chipped in 17 points for Smith (3-12).

CLASS B

Life Sciences 51, Bard 49: Manuel Cuadrado had 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Jason Perry Murray added 10 points and 15 rebounds and Jaliyl Adargo tallied seven points and 11 rebounds for Life Sciences (4-6), which led 14-1 after the first quarter, in Manhattan B-2. Bard is also 4-6.

Wingate 57, Brooklyn Studio 42: Jean Joseph made 7-of-11 free throws, sank two 3-pointers and scored 31 points and Khestonio Apparicio added 10 points for Wingate (11-2) in Brooklyn B West. Brooklyn Studio is 5-6.

WHEELS 68, Renaissance 56: Eulogio Medina had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, TyShawn Myles had 17 points and 15 rebounds, Emile Lewis also scored 17 points and added five assists and Raymer Leonardo had 12 points for WHEELS (10-1), the Manhattan B-3 leader, in the PSAL Class B Showcase on Sunday at Mott Haven. Renaissance is now 9-4.
