Rikers Island guard pleads guilty to charges in ‘Fight Club’ death

Following in the footsteps of her disgraced co-workers, a Rikers Island guard pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges for participating in an inmate “Fight Club” system that led to the death of a jailed teen.

The wrist slap one year in jail sentence lets Denise Albright, 45, avoid any prison time because she had already served 272 days following her 2009 indictment.

When Bronx Criminal Court Judge Steven Barrett asked if she had anything to say, Albright said, “No.”

Her co workers Michael McKie and Khalid Nelson, the suspected leaders of the secret club, avoided 50 years behind bars by pleading guilty to assault last year. McKie was sentence to two years and Nelson got one year earlier this month.

The Fight Club, which allowed inmates to clobber troublemaking prisoners in exchange for privileges from guards, came to light in October 2008 when Christopher Robinson, 18, was beaten to death.
