Boys basketball roundup: St. Edmund tops Salesian

It’s been a wild weekend for St. Edmund Prep.

Less than 24 hours after beating CHSAA Class A title contender Regis, the Eagles knocked off Salesian, 58-55, in non-league boys basketball Saturday in Brooklyn.

Matt O’Neill had 29 points, including six 3-pointers, and Nick Grasso had 10 points and 15 rebounds for St. Edmund (14-6), which has won five straight after losing four in a row. Jamey Graham had 15 points for Salesian (7-11).

New Rochelle 51, Iona Prep 40: Luke Wooters had 11 points for Iona (16-2) in defeat. Joe Clarke had 16 points and Chis Elefante added 12 for New Rochelle.

Sleepy Hollow (N.Y.) 58, Cardinal Spellman 54: Anthony Williams had 24 points and Matt Kerrigan had 23 points for Spellman (7-10). Harley Falasca had 30 points and Nick Arduino had 15 for Sleepy Hollow.

St. Anthony’s (L.I.) 69, St. John’s Prep 58: Marlon Alcindor had 19 points and Anthony Williams had 11 points for St. John’s Prep (2-14). Jahwon Gordon had 22 points, Leland Williams tallied 13 points and Nigel Carter added 10 for St. Anthony’s (9-10).

Thomas Jefferson 105, Medgar Evers 53: Jermoine Faison scored 23 points and Jaquan (Son Son) Lynch added 15 for Jefferson (18-5), which has won eight games in a row.

CHSAA CLASS B

Nazareth 68, Blessed Sacrament 27: Mike Megafu had 22 points and Samson Usilo had 20 points to lead Nazareth (14-6, 8-0 ‘B’), which has won six straight. Blessed Sacrament is 1-11, 0-2.

IVY PREP LEAGUE

Poly Prep 79, Hackley 53: Charlie Marquardt, Anthony Reyes and Wolfgang Novogratz each scored 13 points and Myles Stephenson and Ladi Adenosine had 10 points apiece for Poly Prep (11-6, 7-1), which meets Collegiate Monday at 6 p.m. in a showdown between the leagues co-leaders.

PSAL CLASS B

Health Professions 73, Bard 47: Gelvis Solano made five 3-pointers, scored 33 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and added seven assists, Karrim Johnson had 13 points and four assists and Kwame McClatchie had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Health Professions (12-0) in Manhattan B-2. Bard falls to 4-9.

Pathways 94, Flushing International 31: Romario Fletcher had 25 points and 12 rebounds, Jordan Washington had 18 points and 10 rebounds in his return from academic ineligibility, Sam Annorh Jr. also had 18 points and added 11 assists and Izaha Jackson and Devaughan Hope each scored 12 points for Queens B East champion Pathways (17-4, 13-1), which led 24-4 after the first quarter. Flushing International falls to 0-14.

Holcombe Rucker 63, Leadership Institute 47: Ceaser Xav Taylor scored 18 points and Donte McCray followed with 15 for Leadership Institute in defeat for Leadership Institute (1-15) in defeat in Bronx B East. Holcombe Rucker is 9-7.
