COMPLETE GIANTS SUPER BOWL COVERAGE

Here’s one man’s tip sheet for Super Bowl XLVI:

THE ANTHEM

The over/under is real low at 1:34, but Kelly Clarkson is a no-nonsense singer and an anti-diva. Stats from beyondthebets.com put her average anthem at a sporting event at 1:31. Yes. It’s the Super Bowl, but don’t expect her to stray much from her comfort zone, especially on the heels of Christina Aguilera’s lyric mess-up last year. Under!

COIN TOSS

The NFC has won an incredible 14 coin tosses in a row and leads all time 31-14. Heads is on a three-year streak to lead 24-21. The last time it came up tails was for the Giants in Super Bowl XLII. Zak DeOssie says he’ll call tails again. Although the AFC is certainly due, you could’ve said that each of the last 13 years. Tails!

PLAYER TO SCORE FIRST TOUCHDOWN

Counting on the first TD to come on a pass, but not willing to lay those heavy odds (-240). Instead, looking for value on the player board, and see it in Mario Manningham at 14-1. He’s caught TD passes in each of the Giants’ three playoff games and should still see some single coverage with Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks out there. Touchdown, SuperMario!

GRONK

Rob Gronkowski’s over/under for passing yards is 77 1/2. Suspecting if he plays at all on his high ankle sprain, he’ll be a decoy until the Pats get in the red zone. Under!

TOTAL YARDS

Over/under is 812 1/2. In the first meeting, the teams combined for just 799 and needed 237 in the last seven minutes to get there. Dee-fense! Under!

MVP

Quarterbacks have won MVP in 24 of the first 45 Super Bowls, so either Tom Brady or Eli Manning will be your best bet depending on your pick to win the game. But the best value has to be that freak of nature Jason Pierre-Paul at 30-1. Two DEs (Harvey Martin, Richard Dent) have done it, and Pierre-Paul has the added ability to block a key kick and the speed to take a fumble or pick to the house. I¹m down with JPP for MVP!
