A teacher who worked with students with special needs was brutally beaten to death in a Queens apartment building, police and neighbors said.
Relatives discovered Tara Hawes, 33, who taught at the Aaron School in Manhattan, in a pool of blood in a second-floor apartment on 30th St. in Astoria at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, cops and friends said.
Police said she had evidence of blunt force trauma to her head.
Neighbors said she was often heard arguing with her husband.
“All the time you hear them yelling,” said Brian Desi, 45, the super of the building. “He seemed controlling.”
Detectives are looking to interview Hawes husband but have been unable to locate him.
Desi said he last saw Hawes’ husband going in and out of their apartment yesterday sometime before 2 p.m.
It’s unclear when Hawes was killed.
