Madonna to play Yankee Stadium

This is sure to be a homerun.

Two days after her stunning Super Bowl halftime show, it was announced that Madonna is set to perform at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 6 as part of a 90-show world tour.

General public tickets go on sale on Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. Fans can also go online at livenation.com, purchase tickets by phone at 800-745-3000 or by TTY at 800-943-4527.

Yankees full- and partial-season ticket licensees, Yankees Universe members, Yankees Group Leaders and Yankees.com subscribers will be emailed about special pre-sale tickets.

The Material Girl will kick off her trek across the globe — her longest tour to date — in in Tel Aviv on May 29 in support of her forthcoming album “MDNA.”

She’ll entertain fans across the Middle East and Europe with 25 shows, then head to North America in late August for an additional 25 dates in the US and Canada.

Her North America shows start in Philadelphia and will wrap up in Atlanta on Nov. 17.

The 53-year-old will also visit South America and Australia in 2013. While the exact dates have not yet been announced for that leg of the tour, it will mark the pop star’s first gigs in Australia in 20 years.
