Stray bullet strikes 81-year-old B’klyn woman in cheek

A stray bullet yesterday struck an 81-year-old Brooklyn woman — the grandmother of a cop on Police Commissioner Ray Kelly’s security detail — as she was about to sit down to dinner, her son told The Post.

Agripina Camacho was shot in the cheek at about 5:25 p.m. in an East New York housing project.

“They started shooting in the back and one of the bullets came in and got her in the face,” said son Freddie Camacho, 61, who lives with his mother. “I didn’t know until she started screaming, telling me she was hit.”

She was stable condition at Brookdale Hosptial.

“There were six or seven gunshots and then when I went outside her son was screaming for help,” said Amanda Taylor, who has lived across the hall.

Taylor, who called 911, said the woman, who has asthma and high blood pressure “didn’t say anything. She was in shock.’’

The fact that the bullet had to smash through the window saved her from more serious injury.

“After striking the window the bullet lost a lot of velocity and lodged in her cheek,” a police source said.
