Yuck! Subway’s ‘rat race’ gets seriously ugly

Here she is . . . Miss Subway Rat.

A brown-haired, boil-covered critter was crowned the ugliest rat in all of the city subway system yesterday, winner of an anti-beauty contest to highlight the rodent infestation.

Michael Spivack, the straphanger who took the stomach-turning shot, will get a free monthly MetroCard today, courtesy of the Transport Workers Union.

He encountered the foul-looking rat — which beat out over a dozen others — at 3 a.m. at the Seventh Avenue station in Manhattan.

“It was so disgusting, I just thought I had to get a picture of it,” Spivak said. “I showed it to my co-worker and she ran out of the room, it was so ugly.’’

But he was very happy with his free pass.

“I’m thankful to the rat,’’ he said. “If he could understand, me I’d say good luck in your rat life.”

The TWU had asked straphangers to send in photographs of the ugliest rats they encountered as part of its “Rat Free Subways” campaign.
