Bill Murray’s former penthouse duplex at Manhattan Skyline’s The Villager, a 31-unit, landmarked six-story building at 450 Sixth Ave. in Greenwich Village, is on the market, asking $12,500 a month in rent — down from the $14,500 it was asking May 1.
Murray recently left the rental, where he had been living since February 2008, shortly before his second wife, Jennifer Butler, filed for divorce. (It was finalized that June.)
The penthouse is a renovated two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex. A classic spiral staircase leads to the master bedroom on the second floor, which opens to a large, outdoor, private terrace with charming views.
On with the ‘show’
Andy Karl, currently starring as Tommy in the Broadway production of “Jersey Boys,” and his wife, the Tony-nominated Orfeh (both pictured below), are house hunting in Manhattan. The two were recently spotted lunching at Fred’s at Barneys with stars of HGTV’s “Selling New York,” brokers Michele Kleier and her daughters Samantha Kleier Forbes and Sabrina Kleier Morgenster

Thus far, the Karls have been looking at one- and two-bedroom units in the Financial District and the Upper West Side. Wherever they end up has to be pet-friendly, as they live with Boo, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix known as “Bruiser” when he starred in the Broadway play “Legally Blonde.” The thespian couple met in a production of “Saturday Night Fever.”
Following the Leider
Andrew B. Leider, a real estate lawyer and developer, has sold his historic 27 Downing St. townhouse in the West Village for $7.2 million, slightly less than his $7.4 million asking price.
The 25-foot-wide, five-bedroom, three-bathroom 1890 manse was on the market for just over a month. It includes five parking spaces in a private garage with 15-foot ceilings, so more cars could be added if a parking lift is installed. There’s also a ground-floor commercial-space option.
Formerly the carriage house and stables for Helen C. Juilliard, the 5,094-square-foot home was featured Wednesday night on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing New York.” The listing brokers were the show’s star, Luis Ortiz, of Keller Williams, and Maura Jarach, of Keller Williams. The mystery buyer is 27 Downing LLC.
Decade in development
A $25 million mansion in Brooklyn that has been in construction for 10 years is nearly finished.
“We went through such heartache. This house has been blood, sweat and tears,” says owner Ivona Hertz. “We love Brooklyn, but this has been a nightmare.”
Ivona and Joseph Hertz, who own Ocean Empire Management and Anovi Builders, bought a vacant lot for $825,000 in 2000 and — thanks in part to zoning changes and code violations — have been building ever since. “I feel terrible for our neighbors. It is an eyesore,” Ivona says.
The eight-bedroom mansion at 277 First St. is slated for completion later this year.
“We wanted this house done when our kids were small,” Ivona says. Now their twentysomething kids are in college. “It’s too big for us now.”
The eco-friendly mansion has a geothermal system, heated concrete floors, Brooklyn-made artisanal furniture and Brooklyn art throughout.
Over-the-top luxuries include a five-car elevator garage inside the house, an indoor Olympic-size lap pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, a gym, a regular elevator and three kitchens, including one on the roof, along with an outdoor rock-climbing wall. The home will have floor-to-ceiling windows throughout and about $1 million worth of glass for the all-glass front entrance.
“This is the biggest house on the block. A lot of people complain,” says project manager Delwar Ahmed.
